People Who Care

At Investors Group, corporate culture means more than just serving clients – we’re caring for our communities, too.

Kudos to Halifax

For the last 15 years, the Halifax Region Office has been working with the local Salvation Army to raise funds and hold events. That office’s long-standing commitment to its community and to the organization was recognized last May by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

The AFP awarded the group its Small Business Philanthropist award at their annual Maritime Philanthropy Award ceremony. Halifax office members Sylvain Morin, Anjali Jensen, and Ross Elliott were in attendance to accept the award.

Off-Ice Adventures

Last May, a group of young hockey players were given a day to remember thanks to a $500 grant from Investors Group’s Community Sport Volunteer program.

The program, in partnership with the True Sport Foundation, provides financial assistance to community sports groups where Investors Group employees and advisors are volunteers.

The money was awarded to Dennis Senebald, Assistant Manager of Product Management, for his work coaching the AAA youth hockey team, the Manitoba Heat.

After winning gold twice at tournaments in North Dakota and Manitoba this past season, the celebration at Skyzone, a popular indoor trampoline park, was well deserved.

Sweet Harmony

Many Manitobans have likely heard Anita Munn, an assistant in the Investors Group Winnipeg East region office, singing with her all-female barbershop group, the Assiniboine Chorus. The group volunteers their time to perform at charitable events across the province including the Ovarian Cancer Walk, the Festival of Trees and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Fundraising event.

Earlier this year the chorus, which is part of the global group Sweet Adelines International, received a grant from the Investors Group Volunteer Support Program to fund an initiative to hire young people from a nearby youth organization to set up risers for the group to rehearse.

The program gives the youth money and teaches them the responsibility of holding a job. Now that’s working in harmony.
