We’re both excited and proud to continue as the title sponsor for the 2021 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. With over 400 communities participating coast-to-coast, the walk is Canada’s largest fundraiser for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This year was especially difficult for Canadians affected by dementia – the pandemic made an isolating disease even more isolating. On top of that, the number of people living with dementia is set to double in the next 10 years, making it more important now than ever to rally together as a community and walk with a purpose. While we can’t all physically walk together with someone, we can virtually walk together for someone. People living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia count on the Alzheimer’s Society for support and the Alzheimer’s Society counts on people like you to be able to continue to be a critical support for our communities. Every step you take during the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s helps fund critical initiatives provided by the Alzheimer Society for every family member, friend or neighbour living with dementia. Initiatives such as:
- Hiring more frontline professionals
- Offer more one-on-one counseling
- Funding programs like First Link®
- A service that connects those newly diagnosed with dementia with the right support and information
With the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s being an online event for the second year in a row, it’s never been easier to participate. Simply follow the steps to register online and join the walk from wherever you are in the country:
- Register online at walkforalzheimers.ca
- Find your local walk details
- Walk this May and tell us who you’re walking for using #IGWalkForALZ
- Join us on May 30 for our online celebration
While the walk is the largest fundraiser of its kind, IG Wealth Management’s partnership with the Alzheimer Society doesn’t stop there. Dementia can have a significant financial impact on families, which is why IG offers free financial empowerment workshops tailored to the unique concerns of people living with the disease. In 2020, we moved these workshops to a virtual format, which proved to be a blessing in disguise. While there was a learning curve at first, the new online format allows us to reach far more participants, including those in remote locations and with mobility issues.
Our partnership with the Alzheimer Society is just one of the many initiatives in our community program, IG Empower Your Tomorrow. With your support, we can continue our mission to build the financial confidence of all Canadians coast-to-coast.
