Over the past month, we rallied together with our communities to walk for the countless families, caregivers and neighbours impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. In the wake of the pandemic, this year was especially important to raise funds for those in need – and we want to thank everyone who joined us in stepping up to do just that.
This May, we had more IG Wealth Management teams participate in the walk than in years’ past. With the increased participation, IG teams were able to raise more money online in 2021 than we raised in 2020 and 2019 combined! To date, we have raised a total of $520,255 with 5,181 donations in 2021 – a whopping $230,638 more than we raised in 2020. We look forward to celebrating our final IG teams results alongside the national fundraising results this fall.
Every dollar raised through the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s goes towards Alzheimer’s programs and support for caregivers and family members through the Alzheimer Society. The costs associated with living with dementia are more than 5 times higher than Canadians living without the disease. The Alzheimer Society is one of the many partners we work with as part of our Empower Your Tomorrow program, which is committed to building the financial confidence of Canadians in communities from coast-to-coast.
Through our work in helping communities gain financial confidence, we identified seniors as one of these key groups that stand to benefit significantly from additional financial resources and education as they move into retirement or are directly impacted by life-changing diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia. That’s why we work in partnership with the Alzheimer Society each year to provide online and in-person financial seminars to those living with dementia and their families to help them confidently plan for their journey ahead.
It’s our mission to continue to support seniors within Canadian communities by providing the necessary funding and support for these important financial seminars and programs. Additionally, we’re proud to continue to work with our partners at the Alzheimer Society to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s and dementia services relied upon by so many Canadians.
Again, we want to thank you for your participation in this years’ IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s and we look forward to building on the great momentum we have created to further support Canadian seniors throughout the year.
