Equifax Cybersecurity Breach
Equifax Canada has announced that approximately 100,000 Canadian consumers may have been impacted by the cybersecurity breach that affected its U.S. parent company earlier this month.
Equifax advises that names, addresses, Social Insurance Numbers and, in limited cases, credit card numbers may have been compromised.

What is Equifax?
Equifax is a consumer credit reporting agency that collects information on over 800 million individual consumers and more than 88 million businesses worldwide.

Who does this breach affect?
Affected Solutions Banking MasterCard clients will be contacted by mail and provided with a new card. Equifax will also be providing complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection for 12 months for these clients.

How will I know if my information was part of this breach?
The breach has affected a very small number of Solutions Banking MasterCard clients who conducted online transactions with U.S. vendors.
